Job description
Business Development & Marketing Executive

ROLE PURPOSE: As Business Development & Marketing Executive in Environment & HSR you will support the marketing and business development activity to generate new work within those divisions. Our Environment & HSR colleagues are recognised experts in their fields and the divisions comprise some 400 professional staff. Our BD team leads a diverse range of BD and marketing activity therein and supports key technical winner-doers in driving business growth. The role is an important part of our work and growth generation. Working with the Senior BD Director and BD Assistant, you will work with a diverse range of colleagues from Operations Directors and Technical and Associate Directors across the UK, as well as our in-house corporate marketing and bids teams.

Your day-to-day will be varied - ranging from generating content for promotional campaigns, social media, and thought leadership articles, to direct client outreach, events and input to bids and proposals. You’ll also lead and complete discrete tasks and BD and marketing activity in your own right. You’ll be highly visible within the divisions due to the network of colleagues you’ll work with and collaborate with, as well as external contacts in client organisations. A strong understanding of BD and marketing, especially in multi-disciplinary professional services firms, is an important requirement.

400 staff across 15 main UK offices; BD team of 3 staff plus central corporate marketing and bid teams including business support, principally private and quasi-public sector clients in 5 main markets, technical projects ranging from single service to large multi-disciplinary involving other business units. Our projects range from a few £thousands to £millions with BD tending to support the larger scale opportunities. The role includes identifying these opportunities of scale from pipeline through to commission. We have a dedicated BD and marketing budget to support key BD activity which we manage on behalf of the business. The role would be roughly 70% focused on Environment and 30% on HSR. This role can be based from any of our Tetra Tech RPS Consulting offices and is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of two days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing: competence and experience in marketing campaigns and content generation including website content, reference project case studies, thought leadership articles, podcasts, and social media posts. The ultimate intent is to raise profile and drive new sales and growth in key markets and service areas. Working with our central Marketing team will be an essential part of that delivery.
  • Experience in the use of webinar platforms for events, and experience in AI for multiple uses such as market research would be advantageous/desirable.
  • Monitor and report on campaign success and highlight areas for improvement.
  • Client Relationship Management: coordinating and supporting our effort with key clients and service level frameworks in terms of relationship management and new work generation. Our key clients are important for the longer-term sustainability of our business and order book.
  • Generate market intelligence and movements with existing and target key clients to inform marketing and BD activity and support the teams. This could include preparing report and other material for client framework review meetings.
  • Monitoring and reporting progress to input into management reports.
  • Bids, Tenders and Client Enquiries: support a range of bidding activity and work with our central Bid team on larger multi-discipline bids. Manage and follow up on client leads and enquiries, support proposal content and information for supplier evaluations, pre-qualifications, bids, tenders, and related presentations.
  • Generate proposal content with the teams and supporting materials such as CVs and case studies to evidence experience and expertise.
  • Providing input into larger cross-operating unit tenders and coordinating Environment and/or HSR discipline inputs, including gathering market intelligence and analysing data to identify new opportunities.
  • Client Events: organise and be involved in client events from local division level to larger events at the Tetra Tech level. Source venues, pull together guest lists and invitations, organise event logistics, attend and follow up with clients.
  • Reporting: monitor and report progress including marketing activity and work generation. Support the Senior BD Director by contributing to monthly progress reports on marketing activity and ROI, plus marketing budget monitoring and reporting (e.g., SEO and website performance in response to campaign activity).
