This role will undertake the preparation and analysis of public health and other health and social care data to support the health intelligence function of the public health team to improve population health outcomes. This post will provide analytical support for the health intelligence and health care public health function and to inform service development for the improvement of services. Including assist in audits and surveys, collection of data, statistical analysis of data, development of audit and/or research projects. As such, the role will involve working directly with members of staff at all levels across the service, ensuring that staff are supported with their public health intelligence requirements in the right way to meet the needs of the organisation. Carry out work on data preparation, data quality, data analysis, modelling, forecasting and the creation and presentation of standard, regular and bespoke reports.

Main duties of the job

The role requires excellent communication skills with the ability to report on results of analysis verbally, graphically and in written reports, attending high level meetings and providing briefings as required. This will require the ability to communicate sensitive and contentious information to clinical, non-clinical and senior management audiences. This may be in relation to complex or contentious subject matter regarding service delivery e.g. staff complaints/satisfaction, performance management e.g. workforce productivity/capability and alternative ways of working (e.g. resource utilisation) that will be subject to robust scrutiny and challenge

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems acquired through Vocational Level 3, or possess the skills, knowledge, training and experience to equivalency. RSA/OCR III typing qualification or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience. Good standard of education Experience in validation work Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures. Knowledge of office practices and able to establish new processes. Demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with guidelines, policies and procedures. Knowledge of the importance of Health & Safety Regulations in the workplace.
Experience
  • Ability to work independently. Fully conversant with all Microsoft Office software.
  • Previous NHS.
Aptitude and Abilities Skills
  • Excellent communication and customer care skills and a good telephone manner. Good organisational and time management skills. Ability to prioritise work and identify urgent requirements, adjusting and re-prioritising as necessary. Diplomacy skills when dealing with patients/relatives who may be aggrieved or irate

  • Flexible and ability to cover across CTMUHB. Remain calm under pressure. Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual. Use initiative to resolve problems.
