Position Summary

Responsible for timely processing of inquiry and referral calls. Coordinate all admissions and serve as liaison to referral sources, families, payors, physicians, and unit and hospital personnel involved with each admission. Verify insurance, triage patients, complete assessments, staff clinical team effectively, enter calls and admissions into the computer, and complete all admission paperwork with the patient. Communicate with unit staff and assist patients to the unit. Pre‑certify with payor source. Follow hospital policies and procedures regarding admissions.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, health care team members, and community providers.
  • Assess and identify developmental and behavioral functioning. Document patient responses.
  • Employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem solving and crisis intervention when performing intake assessments.

Qualifications

Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor’s degree; Minimum of one year experience in substance abuse or psychiatric treatment programs; Registered Nurse with active license in Texas.

Preferred: Master’s degree; Minimum of two years experience in psychiatric treatment; prior experience in intake/admissions and managed care; Working knowledge of DSM‑V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.

Additional Requirements: CPR certification; Handle with Care and Verbal De‑Escalation training within 30 days of employment. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
