A leading family-run car retailer group in Carlisle is looking for an Accounts Assistant to ensure the smooth operation of the accounts department. The role involves daily transactional accounting tasks, credit control, and ledger maintenance. Ideal candidates will possess strong general accounts experience and excellent organizational skills. Qualifications

  • Experience of working in the motor industry and knowledge of Kerridge desirable, but full training will be given.
  • General office / administration experience is a plus.
  • Attention to detail is critical in this role.

  • Check and re‑allocate nominal postings.
  • Code Purchase Invoices.
  • Manage Credit Control.
  • Complete and check mileage logs.
  • Maintain Sales and Purchase Ledgers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join Lloyd Kia based in Carlisle.

As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the accounts department. Working closely with the dealership’s Assistant Accountant and Retailer Accountant, you’ll be responsible for day‑to‑day transactional accounting tasks, supporting accurate financial reporting, and contributing to the success of the business.

Salary: Competitive
Hours: 40 hours per week

Role responsibilities
  • Checking and re‑allocating nominal postings
  • Coding of Purchase Invoices
  • Credit Control
  • Completing and checking of mileage logs
  • Ledger Maintenance – ensuring Sales and Purchase Ledgers are tidy
  • Initiating Monthly Run and paying Inter Company Accounts
  • Checking and allocating Manufacturer commission
  • Stock counts
  • Responsible for Petty Cash
  • Daily Banking
Qualifications
  • General accounts experience (including Credit Control)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • IT Literate
  • General office / administration experience
  • Effective time management and attention to detail
  • AAT qualification desirable but not essential
