Information for the role of Academic Coordinator for the Downing International Programmes

Salary £32,218 per annum for 36.25 hours per week

An excellent opportunity to join the Downing International Programmes in a varied and fulfilling role in a small, friendly team.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Supporting the application process and conducting admissions interviews to assess the suitability of applicants for programmes.
  • Coordinating and working closely with teams of academics and subject specialists to develop a structured curriculum tailored to the academic needs of for different international audiences.
  • Providing guidance and support to teaching staff in delivering the teaching curriculum.
  • Offering academic and pastoral support to students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and learning.

About Downing’s International Programme

The Downing International Programme was originally established in 1998 and offered only to our University Partner’s overseas. With the initiative of expanding the programme offering to International Students aged 15-18, Downing College International Programme became one of the College Endorsed Summer Programmes within the Cambridge University academic community.

The Programme is split into three main sub programmes; Pre-Sessional International Programme (15-18), International Programme (15-18), AND Undergraduate Programme (18+), held at Downing College, Cambridge.

During the Programme, students will engage in a variety of academic activities such as lectures, workshops and visits to subject-related laboratories. Students will also enjoy a vibrant social calendar featuring quintessential Cambridge and British experiences, such as formal dinner, punting and a history and political tour of London.

With cross-disciplinary learning and empowerment at the core of the Downing College International Programmes, we are driven to ensure that students have the best experience that can be offered.

Details of the role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Academic Coordinator to join our International Programme team. The post of Academic Coordinator is a permanent, full-time role. Applications are invited from suitably experienced candidates.

The hours of work are from 9.00am to 4.45pm, including an unpaid 30-minute lunch break, although there is potential for a degree of flexibility on start/finish times. The annual salary is £32,218 per annum for 36.25 hours per week (Step 40 on the College Salary Scale).
