Position Summary

Quinte Health’s Transition Pool offers a unique opportunity to explore diverse clinical areas, build skills, and find where you truly thrive—all while making a difference in patient care.

Start with an 8-week orientation program designed for your success:

  • First 4 weeks: Medicine/Surgical unit with a consistent mentor to build your foundation.
  • Next 10 shifts: Rotate through specialized units including Sills 3 (Acute Stroke/Rehab), Sills 4 (Complex Continuing Care), BSTU (Behavioral Support), TCU (Transitional Care Unit), Trenton In-Patient Unit, and PicPatient Unit.
  • After a few months, once confident and comfortable, you’ll complete Emerge orientation—2 weeks in Belleville’s Emergency Department and 2 weeks in Trenton’s Emergency Department.

Required
  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS certificate.
  • Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)
Duties
  • Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.
  • Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
  • Teaching and coaching to patients and families.
  • Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
  • Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession.
  • Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annual training and education as indicated.
  • Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures.
  • Adapts and adheres to of QH while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.
