About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and proactive Senior HR Specialist to join their team in Portugal. In this role, you will support the day-to-day HR operations while also contributing to strategic projects across talent management, employee relations, and organisational development.

Youll work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure they continue building an engaging, compliant, and people-first workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert support in core HR areas such as compensation & benefits, performance management, employee engagement, and HR compliance
  • Manage and oversee the monthly payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and coordination with Finance and external providers
  • Ensure alignment with Portuguese labor laws, collective agreements, and internal policies
  • Handle employee relations, disciplinary procedures, and conflict resolution with professionalism and discretion
  • Lead and support talent acquisition initiatives and onboarding processes
  • Collaborate on HR projects including diversity & inclusion, training & development, and culture-building
  • Maintain and update HR systems and records (HRIS), ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality
  • Prepare HR metrics and reports for leadership decision-making
  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR best practices
  • Support audits and liaise with legal or regulatory bodies when needed

Requirements

  • 3 to5 years of experience in HR minimum, with at least 2 years in an HR generalist role
  • Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of Portuguese labor law and HR best practices
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive results
  • Experience with HR software and systems
  • Familiarity with international HR practices (nice to have)
