Job summary

A community-based charity organization is looking for volunteers to assist in donations and customer service. The role involves heavy lifting and requires a full UK driving licence along with good physical fitness. You'll gain valuable experience in the charity sector while contributing to your community. Weekly commitment of 2 hours expected.

Qualifications

  • At least 25 years of age required to drive vans.
  • Good level of physical fitness is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Take in donations from the public
  • Identify Gift Aid donors
  • Segregate donations for distribution
  • Prepare orders for other stores
  • Support shop floor team with the moving/building of furniture items
  • Help customers with larger items they've purchased
  • Stock preparation including sorting, steaming, and pricing
  • General housekeeping duties
  • Refer any enquiries or complaints to the suitable person
  • Attend relevant training and team meetings
  • Adhere to relevant policies and procedures.
Job description

Note: This role requires a full and clean UK driving licence. You’ll also need to be at least 25 years of age to drive our vans and be required to register your driver details on our Grey Fleet portal.

The role involves heavy lifting and handling donations, so a good level of physical fitness is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Take in donations from the public
  • Identify Gift Aid donors
  • Segregate donations for distribution
  • Prepare orders for other stores
  • Support shop floor team with the moving/building of furniture items when required
  • Help customers with larger items they have purchased
  • Stock preparation when required (including sorting, steaming and pricing)
  • General housekeeping duties
  • Refer any enquiries, requests or complaints to the most suitable person in a professional manner
  • Attendance at relevant training and team meetings
  • Adherence to the relevant policies and procedures of the hospice.
