Job description
Overview

Are you a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse looking to take the next step in your career? This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected independent veterinary hospital with a strong reputation for clinical excellence, teamwork, and genuine care for both patients and people.

The Role

The practice is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic RVN to join their friendly and supportive nursing team. The ideal candidate will be confident in all areas of nursing and keen to develop their skills in a busy hospital environment. Some experience in emergency and critical care would be advantageous but is not essential—what matters most is a passion for providing exceptional patient care.

This varied role includes responsibilities across inpatient care, anaesthesia, theatre nursing, nurse clinics, and laboratory work, offering excellent opportunities to broaden clinical experience and professional growth.

The position offers an average 40-hour working week over four days, promoting a great work-life balance. The 1:9 rolling rota includes occasional night, weekend, and bank holiday shifts, with time off in lieu to ensure proper rest and recovery.

About the Practice

This well-established, independent veterinary group operates a 24 hour hospital in Hertfordshire alongside 2 branches just across the border in Essex. As the only veterinary hospital within a 10-mile radius, the team provides 24/7 care for their loyal and growing client base.

The hospital is equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, a full dental suite with dental X-ray, a range of endoscopes, and even an on-site hydrotherapy treadmill, ensuring the highest standard of diagnostic and rehabilitative care.

With a team of 22 nurses and 15 vets, including clinicians with interests in ophthalmology, orthopaedics, and cardiology, this is a place where professional collaboration thrives and learning never stops.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary from £30,000 (DOE)
  • £750 CPD allowance per year
  • 5 weeks annual leave
  • RCVS fees paid
  • Time off in lieu for bank holidays
  • Generous staff discounts for personal pets

If you’re an RVN who thrives in a supportive, forward-thinking environment and values both clinical excellence and work-life balance, this could be the perfect next step in your nursing career.
