New Stead House is located in the town of Redcar, in Cleveland. Our home offers residential support for 17 autistic people. We are located on a side road, close to the town centre and the seafront. Our team are dedicated to helping each person we care for to have a healthy, happy and independent life. We recognise that people on the autism spectrum may have individual sensory needs, and we strive to provide the right environment for them.

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However while this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents’ wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.

Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you'll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.

As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of our residents and tenants. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

  • Encouraging people to live as independently as possible, while supporting them in building their life skills and achieving goals at their own pace
  • Supporting tenants in a person centred way, which can include assisting with personal care, participation in activities and support with daily living skills, including maintenance of their tenancy
  • Complete daily administration of electronic and paper records with the involvement of the individual as appropriate
  • Supporting the individual in maintaining their health and wellbeing, which may involve liaising with other specialists
  • Supporting and encouraging the individual’s participation and integration in the local community through activities and interests that meet their ambitions and help them achieve outcomes in their chosen way
  • Embedding the REACH standards in everyday practice
  • Following company policies and procedures
What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.
