Job description
Overview

The Widening Access team works to increase the number of young people and adults from underrepresented backgrounds who progress to higher education. Through a variety of activities we work with young people, adults, parents and teachers to raise awareness of higher education, provide information, debunk myths, address barriers and increase knowledge of university and the application process.

Location: Brunel University of London, Uxbridge Campus

Salary: Grade 7 – £40,757 to £47,921 inclusive of London Weighting, potential to progress to £52,067 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution (pro‑ratio if part‑time).

Hours: Full‑time

Contract: Fixed term up to 1 year, until February 2027

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of outreach and widening access initiatives within the UK Recruitment team.
  • Design and implement programmes that engage schools, colleges and community organisations, supporting Brunel’s recruitment strategy and promoting higher education opportunities for under‑represented groups.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders and contribute to sector‑wide forums.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of activities aligned with the Access and Participation Plan.
  • Deliver the medical outreach programme, including the Medicine residential summer school.
Qualifications
  • Experience in outreach, widening access or a similar role.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and the transformative power of education.
  • Ability to work effectively with schools, colleges, community organisations and internal teams.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK for the duration of any offer of appointment.
  • Meeting Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) requirements.
