Job title: Senior Land Referencer – Infrastructure

Salary range: Up to £40,000

Location: Birmingham

The Job: This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Land Referencing professional to play a key role within a growing infrastructure hub. You’ll support nationally significant infrastructure projects, managing the full land referencing process while mentoring junior colleagues and helping shape the future success of the division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Geo-reference and digitise features from CAD and paper plans using ArcGIS
  • Conduct desktop and contact referencing of affected parties
  • Collect, interpret, and manage land ownership and stakeholder data within internal systems
  • Verify and update mapping layers to maintain data accuracy
  • Produce and quality-check legal documentation such as Order Plans, Books of Reference, Notices, and Schedules
  • Carry out site visits, including door-knocking exercises and serving notices
  • Communicate professionally and empathetically with the public and clients
  • Support workload management and task allocation within the team
  • Assist with timesheet and invoicing processes
  • Attend client and stakeholder meetings

What We’re Looking For:

  • Relevant degree in Geography, Planning or related field — or equivalent hands-on industry experience
  • Proven experience producing Order Plans, Books of Reference, Notices, and Schedules
  • Strong capability in GIS software (ideally ArcGIS)
  • Understanding of compulsory purchase frameworks (e.g. TWA, CPO Act, Planning Act)
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members
  • Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel
