Senior Charge Nurse – Band 7

As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we deliver health advice and information by telephone and online 24/7 to the population of Scotland. NHS 24 offers triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services.

Where We Are

Our Regional Centres are located at Hillington, Cardonald, Clydebank, South Queensferry, Dundee and Aberdeen. Senior Charge Nurse vacancies are available in our South Queensferry Contact Centre.

This Role
  • Provide clinical and professional leadership to the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Be accountable for implementing performance management, mentorship, preceptorship and ensuring clinical governance processes comply with NHS 24 policy.
  • Lead and manage the multidisciplinary team to support delivery against NHS 24 organisational performance indicators.
  • Assume delegated responsibility for the management of the virtual NHS 24 service and monitor the operational environment in the absence of a Clinical Services Manager (CSM).
  • Deliver safe, effective and person-centred care, facilitating the delivery of the Leading Better Care (LBC) ambitions.
  • Ensure safe and effective clinical practice, enhance patient experience, contribute to organisational objectives and participate in the recruitment of front-line staff.
  • Participate in research and development projects as appropriate.
Who We Are Looking For
  • First-level nursing qualification (appropriate part of NMC Register) Educated to SCQF level 10 or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive post-registration experience, preferably across two health-care settings; experience of unscheduled care an advantage.
  • Skills and competencies associated with post-registration experience or evidence of expert clinical practice derived from experience and theory.
  • Knowledge of NHS/health-care national and local standards, drivers and challenges impacting the area of work.
  • Ability to maintain professional and personal credibility across all staff groups.
  • Leadership ability, inspiring others and driving change through continuous professional development.
  • Personal motivation and enthusiasm for nursing development, patient care and enhancing the patient experience.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data to plan resources effectively.
