Job description
Overview

The Borgen Project is an international organization that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine and poverty. The organization advocates to make poverty a focus of U.S., Canadian and U.K. foreign policy and aims to support the passage of bills benefiting people in developing countries.

This is an unpaid, part-time, remote internship program designed to provide insight into nonprofit leadership and the skills needed to lead and develop a nonprofit organization. The program is 12 hours per week for 12 weeks, with the option to complete in fewer weeks if availability is limited.

Responsibilities
  • Advocacy Leadership Development: Meet with government members in your district/constituency; represent The Borgen Project at business, political and community events; mobilise individuals to contact government members in support of poverty-reduction legislation.
  • Fundraising Development: Learn fundraising techniques and create a personal fundraising campaign to meet targets.
  • Recruitment: Update job postings; inform groups and classes of openings; introduction to recruitment platforms and interview observation.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Pitch story ideas to print, broadcast and digital media; utilise social media and develop strategies for web-based messaging.
Qualifications
  • Experience: No prior experience is necessary; we are looking for people who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of GPA/background.

This is and unpaid internship, although college credit is available.
