Purpose

This role will be part of the account based team and have support, training, access to the UK CBRE Lab services.

About The Role

Full spectrum Lab Services by CBRE, part of Global Workplace Solutions (GWS), is a leading global provider of Scientific Support Services. We are recruiting a Laboratory Steward (for 6 months on a fixed‑term contract) to join the team based in Southampton, who has a passion to drive innovation and optimisation of scientific processes for our client. The successful candidate will join a well‑established on‑site CBRE team within a large Research and Development client account, whilst also being connected to a global technical community which is part of the full spectrum lab Services Unit within CBRE‑GWS. As a CBRE Lab Steward, you will work with a team responsible for facilitating the program in the Life Sciences sector, in both client facing and internally focused settings. Responsible for ensuring that the lab services carried out at on site are supported and ensuring requirements are met and documented.

Key Accountabilities & Deliverables
  • Health and safety – adherence to legislative and company policy
  • Communicate and work effectively with client end users and CBRE team colleagues.
  • Conform to safety rules and apply good safety practices.
  • Ensure risk and method statements are adhered prior to commencement of any works.
Day to day tasks
  • Liquid nitrogen tank checking & Dewar filling, liquid nitrogen freezer checks
  • Bottled hydrogen, CO₂, HE H & N gas checking
  • Hydrogen generators (check and fill)
  • Encon room – check all units and fill humidifier bottles.
  • Lab consumables (gloves, blue roll, towels, safety glasses, etc.)
  • Waste – sharps bins, general bins, solvents, glass bins
  • Waste segregation – solvent decanting, etc.
  • Waste devices – splitting units up (batteries & e‑liquids)
  • Millipore systems – operational checks
  • LN₂ tank deliveries
  • Fume hood basic checks
  • Hosting of contractors for access to labs
  • Hazardous waste bin & machine collections/removals
  • 2 weekly restock meetings
  • Eye wash station checks & replenish
  • Lab chemical stock check & replenish
  • Ensuring the safe and sustained supply of gases to the lab area to include all special gases and cryogenic liquids.
  • Ensure any works carried out comply with the current client's quality systems with regards to change control and SOPs.
  • Adhere to agreed service level agreements and support team to exceed key performance indicators.
  • Cross train for wider laboratory support within onsite servicing team.
  • Adopt and champion new technologies to improve response and resolution time for client.
Skills and Experience
  • Experience working within a laboratory, or in a pharmaceutical setting.
  • Pharmaceutical / lab working background.
  • Previous experience of working in multidisciplinary customer facing teams.
  • PC and Microsoft tools skills.
  • Effective communication with flexible approach to work patterns.
