A family in need of support is seeking a competent Support Worker for their non-verbal child with spastic paraplegia. Responsibilities include assisting with studies, engaging in recreational activities, and providing personal care. The ideal candidate should have experience with children who have disabilities, be calm under pressure, and know sign language. Free bus travel is provided for outings. This position is for 20 hours per week, with the possibility of more hours during school holidays.
Either one 20 hour post or two posts as below
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.(12 hour post)
Saturday and Sunday 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.(8 hour post)
More hours may be available during the school holidays
The family of a happy little boy who is a wheelchair user and non-verbal are looking to recruit a competent, mature and experienced Support Worker. The role will involve some assistance with studies as well as fun time to include outings, playing games. Free bus travel is available for the outings. The young man has spastic paraplegia and some developmental delay. The young man can have seizures therefore you should feel able to deal with these calmly. He is now using sign language to assist with communication. Some personal care is required.
