Here at ARM, we are recruiting for a full-time permanent IT System Engineer for a global IT services and consultancy client of ours.
Overview:
This position is within the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and will be responsible for supporting customer solutions, both for our customers and our internal systems, maintaining the infrastructure, servers, storage, and network.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the solutions, including the underpinning technologies that form the infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Ticket Management and Customer Service:
* Pick up and take ownership of customer tickets, complying with the ticketing processes
* Triage and resolve, either individually or with the support of the wider team
* Meet or exceed the customer SLA
* Effective communication to the customer and within the team - Infrastructure:
* A thorough understanding of IT infrastructure and IT ideologies and the interaction between physical and virtual layers
* Monitoring and identifying issues, owning through to resolution whilst working with the wider team when required
* Proactively identifying improvements for the infrastructure configuration - Operating Systems and Software Configuration:
* Multiple operating systems exposure, in-depth experience of at least one
* In-depth experience in administering virtualization/hypervisor software
* Developing understanding and experience of cloud computing administration
* Ensure the environments are assured against data loss
* Identify and undertake software or operating systems installations and upgrades
* Develop scripts and processes to aid day-to-day activities, automating and streamlining wherever possible
* Gain or hold relevant accreditations (e.g. Microsoft MCSA, Azure Administrator) - Security:
* In-depth knowledge of the potential threats to IT environments from internal and external influences, weak adherence to security protocols, and human error
* Proactively (and as a team) protect customer environments from vulnerabilities utilizing tools such as patching - Change Control:
* Complete understanding of the reasons underpinning change control, adhering to all required processes
* Support the team by creating change requests, adhering to customer best practice
* Implement and execute changes, as required and per process - Asset Management:
* Maintain asset documentation with additions, decommissions, and updates to ensure that the scope of support for our customers is understood, accurate, and kept up to date
Qualifications:
* Multiple OS level exposure (Windows and Linux)
* Server (Dell/Lenovo)
* Storage (NetApp/IBM/Lenovo)
* Virtualization (VMWare/Hyper-V)
* Backup (Veeam)
* Experience in these key infrastructure technologies (Veeam, Zabbix)
* Experience of cloud technologies and solutions (AWS and Azure/M365)
