We are partnering with a well-established national health charity to recruit an experienced and people‑focussed Head of Finance on a one‑year FTC.

The role will lead and develop a team of six, overseeing financial operations, providing strategic financial oversight and ensuring robust financial management across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and delivery of the charity's financial strategy, providing insight, modelling, and analysis to support long‑term planning
• Oversee financial governance, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House, HMRC, and all regulatory requirements.
• Manage the annual audit and the preparation of statutory accounts in line with Charity SORP.
• Produce timely and accurate management accounts, forecasts, and budgeting information for senior leaders and trustees.
• Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and effective use of financial systems.
• Monitor financial risks and reserves, developing mitigation strategies and supporting strategic decision‑making across the organisation.
• Lead, support, and develop the finance team, while building financial literacy across the wider organisation.

Person Specification

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant experience in a senior finance role, ideally within the charity or not‑for‑profit sector.
• Strong technical accounting skills in charity accounting principles (SORP) and financial compliance.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
