About The Role

Balfour Beatty has created iconic buildings and infrastructure worldwide over the past 115 years, redefining excellence and setting industry benchmarks with every project. Alongside several consortium partners, we were selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first‑of‑a‑kind fully integrated gas‑fired power station with carbon capture and storage, a key driver behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster. We are seeking a dynamic Foreman to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
Key Responsibilities
To manage and support various aspects of construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining quality standards. Typically supporting a manager or team in ensuring that tasks are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
- Financial: support small work packages or be part of a larger team for larger work packages. The value is dependent on the Business Unit Requirements.
- Internal interfaces: Site Manager, Construction Manager, Senior Construction Manager, Construction Lead/Director, Design Management, Quality Manager, Health and Safety department, Social Team, Sustainability Team, Commercial Management and Project Management.
- External interfaces: Supervisors, Operatives, Supply Chain Management and Compliance, Regulators.
Accountabilities
Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure HSE targets and standards are maintained.
- Awareness of zero harm.
- Implement, with support, H&S documentation.
- Understand and deliver the customer’s key objectives.
- Attend and support Daily Activity Briefings.
- Support immediate management in setting people to work.
Production Control
- Understand project plans and schedules. Actively participate in SIC meetings implementing commercial and contractually viable progress records.
- Under supervision, manage and produce schedules/programmes within the project scheme, identifying conflicts in logic and resolutions.
- Under supervision, manage small sections of work ensuring subcontractors achieve the production and contractual obligations.
Logistics
- Learn and gain an understanding of safe systems of work, eliminating safety risks through good logistics.
- Gain an understanding of the importance of logistics for programme success.
- Be an active participant in reviewing and sharing logistics strategy with the wider team, including the supply chain.
Quality & Technical
- Gain an understanding of the sequencing and logic of the project process.
- Diligently review drawings, specifications and checklists.
- Learn the importance of buildability.
- Play an active role in supporting the management of quality issues and the QA process (including NCRs).
- Research and learn about the development and application of building safety and fire safety strategies.
- Assist with the production of checklists, snags and quality observations.
Commercial
- Understand the package procurement process.
- Under supervision, involved in the development of the scope of works for the supply chain during procurement.
- Know and understand key contract dates in the main contract and various subcontracts.
- Learn and understand the key contractual requirements of sustainability.
Who We're Looking For
Skills

- Advanced Basic IT skills for the use of BIM and construction management tools.

- Basic understanding of safety protocols and best practices.
- Understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Awareness of environmental sustainability practices.
- Awareness of construction technology and innovation.
- Awareness of digital implementation.
Experience
- Academic experience with work package scheduling and timeline management.
- Awareness of regulatory agencies and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Academic experience in safety management on construction sites.
- Experience negotiating contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Experience with environmentally sustainable practices in construction projects.
- Experience with construction technology and software for project management and documentation.
