Job description

Job Title: Inspection & Maintenance Engineer (Manchester and surrounding areas)

Based in: M60 corridor

The Kompan aftersales department provides on-site inspections, repairs, full refurbishments, and maintenance on any manufacturers’ equipment, even those who have ceased trading. As an inspection and maintenance engineer, you will be required to carry out operational inspections and minor repairs in playgrounds across the north of the country.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a field-based inspection and maintenance engineer who will carry out operational inspections and repairs with regular visits to our northern storage facilities to obtain and store parts.

This role will be based in and around the M60 corridor; the ideal candidate will be located within this area.

Responsibilities:

  • Completion of operational inspections and risk assessments as specified in BS EN1176 using the Play Inspection Company APP or other software the company may choose to use.
  • Ensure inspections provide all necessary information for repair quotations to be produced accurately including measurements, quantities, manufacturer details, and photographs.
  • Contact customers to advise your intended inspection date/time as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with the office.
  • Identify opportunities for larger repair and refurbishment works.
  • Undertake basic corrective repairs as required, provided you have appropriate tools and equipment available.
  • Carry out repairs to an exceptional standard.
  • Replenish vehicle stock as required by requesting replacement items based on usage.
  • Provide a stock take of vehicle stock as and when requested.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions for improving the efficiency of your role.
  • Provide support/training to other members of staff where required.
  • Maintain all tools/equipment/PPE in good condition and request replacements or repairs as needed.
  • Wear company branded workwear at all times (provided).
  • Clearly display ID badge.
  • Comply with the company code of conduct at all times.
  • Maintain your vehicle in line with company car policies.
  • Undertake additional training where required.
  • Act safely and wear all appropriate PPE for the task set (provided).

Experience:

  • Experience working within construction, maintenance, or service engineering.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Problem solver with practical skills including woodworking, surface repair, painting, and mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to a high level of accuracy and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated individual who keeps abreast of industry and safety requirement changes.
  • Basic IT skills – use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to travel daily; a full clean driving license is required.
  • RPII Operational inspection Qualification (training will be considered for the right candidate).
  • Enhanced DBS check will be required due to the nature of our business.

  • Team player with strong organizational skills, able to collaborate well with others.
  • Able to work autonomously, proactively managing personal workload.
  • A natural multi-tasker, able to track and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Trustworthy and responsible for managing deadlines, planning tasks for self, seeking input from others, checking details, and raising anomalies.
  • Structured and accurate, especially with data input skills; excellent attention to detail is vital.
