Heathrow Airport’s DevSecOps Engineer Lead plays a pivotal role in driving the organisation’s digital transformation by architecting and overseeing a unified CI/CD approach across all digital product teams. This strategy is designed to streamline delivery, enhance secure code development, and support scalable, high-uptime operations, ensuring Heathrow delivers a modern, intuitive digital passenger experience. It will drive efficiencies, value realisation and improve quality.

A key focus of this role is the integration and optimisation of Salesforce, recognised as a core platform at Heathrow, within the DevSecOps ecosystem. The Lead DevSecOps Engineer is responsible for shaping strategy and executing the roadmap for towards a world‑class DevSecOps capability, enabling seamless collaboration and efficient onboarding through a Cohesive development process. Working closely with senior stakeholders, technical leadership, product owners and cross‑functional teams, the role ensures technical feasibility, alignment with business objectives, and the optimisation for reliability, security and cost efficiencies.

This position requires deep expertise in software engineering, DevSecOps leadership, and Salesforce architecture, with a proven focus on CI/CD toolchain and best practices. The Lead will also engage with suppliers to integrate their solutions into Heathrow’s DevSecOps processes, ensuring consistency and compliance with organisational standards. By mentoring and guiding DevOps engineers, the Lead fosters a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence, directly contributing to Heathrow’s vision of delivering the best airport service in the world.

Your role will involve
  • Develop a DevOps strategy and roadmap in support of a future state Agentic DevOps capability and a quality engineering approach for the design, implementation and operation of secure, reliable and cost‑effective business software systems.
  • Ensure the design of platforms, systems and processes are aligned with overall strategic objectives and technical guidance set out by the Technology Department.
  • Stay up-to-date with and recommend the latest DevSecOps tools, practices, and trends to ensure the organisation is leveraging the best technologies.
  • Collaborate with product owners to manage the backlog, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, offering guidance on best practices in CI/CD and automation. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including developers, QA, and IT, to optimise DevOps workflows and improve deployment velocity. Working closely with product and development teams to align DevOps practices with project goals.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field and expertise in DevOps, with experience in a leadership role driving strategy and architecture.
  • Proven experience as a DevSecOps Engineer with a strong focus on agile and DevSecOps processes including DevSecOps tool, monitoring tools, scripting languages and secure code development.
  • Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing integration architectures using REST/SOAP APIs and middleware (e.g., MuleSoft)
  • Strong understanding of governance, change control processes, and compliance standards relevant to enterprise IT (e.g., SOX, GDPR)
  • DevSecOps related certifications such as: Salesforce Platform Development Lifecycle and Deployment Architect certification, Certified DevOps Engineer, Copado Consultant
  • Experience in working with e-commerce solutions at scale within a retail environment.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks using Copado Robotic Testing
  • Knowledge of Copado CI/CD and Copado Robotics Training.
