The team:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Database Engineer with administration and development skills to join our friendly Database Engineering team. You will manage critical databases hosted in AWS, ensuring performance, reliability, data integrity, security, and 24/7 availability.

Our tech stack includes: AWS RDS Aurora Postgres, AWS RDS MySQL, SQL Server on AWS EC2, WSFC, AlwaysOn, RedGate tools, Terraform, Jira, and more.

Our goal is to maintain and monitor database systems proactively, prevent issues, and ensure 99.99% availability year-round. We focus on quick support response times and continuous automation improvements.

A day in the life:

• Reporting to the Head of Data Platforms
• Performing routine database maintenance and collaborating with Senior Database Engineers
• Handling BAU activities independently and supporting stakeholders
• Working closely with platform and development teams for optimal performance
• Participating in on-call rotations

About you:

• Experience with AWS services: RDS, EC2, IAM, S3, DMS, CloudWatch, Lambda
• Managing Aurora PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MySQL databases
• Proficiency in writing and executing SQL scripts in production
• Responding to database requests efficiently
• Willingness to learn about latest cloud and AI technologies
• Maintaining high service levels for incidents, requests, and changes
• Ability to prioritize tasks and projects

Added bonus:

• Experience with WSFC & SQL Server AlwaysOn
• Knowledge of Postgres logical replication and extensions
• Experience with AI applications
• Terraform skills
• Supported Redshift clusters
• Familiarity with Redgate monitoring tools
• Experience handling personal data in regulated environments
• AWS or Azure certifications
