Franks Portlock is a UKAS accredited, leading asbestos consultancy company, specialising in asbestos and environmental testing, asbestos surveys, and consultancy. We have over a decade of experience in asbestos surveying, sample analysis, air testing, four stage clearance testing, and have expanded rapidly over the past few years.

We are UKAS accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 and 17020 with offices based in London, Midlands, the North East and North West of England and Rosyth.

The Role

As a CAD Technician you will be responsible for creating technical drawings using CAD software. You will also be responsible for handling administrative tasks to support the operational team.

As a CAD Technician you will:
  • Create detailed technical drawings and plans based on specifications provided by surveyors, analysts, project managers and the senior management team.
  • Update and modify existing drawings to reflect changes in project specifications.
  • Utilise CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, NanoCAD) to produce accurate and precise drawings. ·
  • Work closely with the administration staff and other team members (site staff) to ensure drawings meet project requirements and standards.
  • Maintain an organised filing system for all drawings and related documents, ensuring easy retrieval and reference. ·
  • Responsible for the technical review of survey reports including making changes where necessary. ·
  • Adhere to and manage all KPI’s pertaining to survey reporting times.
Administrative Duties:
  • To liaise with other offices for support when needed
  • Upkeep a good working relationship with clients and ensure good customer service is provided in every interaction
  • Add new clients and enquiries to the system
  • Manage scheduling of works smoothly and that jobs are completed in a timely manner
  • Take ownership for your workload and manage work scheduling and work as part of a team and support workload
  • Abide by the company code of conduct and comply with data protection laws (GDPR)
  • Completing and keeping up to date with Citation training modules
As a CAD Technician you will:
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good knowledge of IT and Microsoft Office systems.
  • Diary management.
  • Able to offer constructive suggestions for improvement.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, NanoCAD).
  • Strong organisational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
  • Prior experience in a CAD technician role and/or administrative position is preferred.
