What will you do?
The successful candidate will serve as the Senior Lead for the financial reporting function within the SanlamAllianz Life Finance Team, reporting to the SanlamAllianz Life Head of Finance.

What will make you successful in this role?
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills at all organizational levels. Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee monthly financial reporting and consolidation of subsidiaries/associates, ensuring IFRS compliance and adherence to company policies. Manage month-end close processes, collaborate with actuarial teams, analyze financial performance, support planning, forecasting, budgeting, and ensure standards are followed. Support business combinations, statutory reporting, audits, and onboarding of new entities.
  • Financial Management: Conduct balance sheet reviews to identify risks and opportunities, advise on internal controls, and review processes for continuous improvement.
  • Training and Digitization: Develop training programs, collaborate with management on financial implications, supervise the finance team, and promote technology and innovation.
  • People Leadership and Management: Lead and guide stakeholders and teams, exemplify organizational values, and foster a culture of excellence.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CA (SA) with at least 6 years post-articles experience
  • Experience in the life insurance industry, with a strong understanding of IFRS17
  • Proven leadership in team management

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong financial reporting and accounting skills
  • Analytical review and commentary skills
  • Consolidation experience
  • Financial systems implementation knowledge is advantageous
  • Understanding of systems impact on business
  • Financial risk management expertise
  • Leadership and influence skills
  • French language skills are a plus but not required
