Overview

Location: Johannesburg

We are seeking a Sales Director for a zero-code AI platform that offers end-to-end data science and machine learning (DSML) solutions to financial services organizations. The Sales Director for Africa will lead and drive revenue growth for our platform solutions.

This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in enterprise sales, SaaS, and platform-based business models.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in analytics and ML domains, including engaging with clients, understanding their business challenges, and presenting tailored solutions. The successful candidate will develop and execute sales strategies, build key client relationships, and drive platform adoption and revenue.

Requirements
  • 5-8+ years of experience in data science or machine learning, with at least 5 years in a sales role.
  • Proven success in leading platform sales cycles for complex solutions, with a thorough understanding of the sales process.
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering, data analytics, AI, and ML technologies.
  • Solid B2B experience in financial services, including banking, insurance, and credit bureaus.
  • Deep domain knowledge in developing credit risk, debt collection, and customer acquisition scorecards for financial services.
Technical Skills
  • Expertise in analytical solutions, predictive modeling, and building analytics pipelines for banking or insurance sectors.
  • Strong familiarity with big data technologies, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and analytics tools.
  • Awareness of emerging trends in AI, deep learning, NLP, and automated ML.
Soft Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting to executives and technical teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with creative thinking to propose innovative solutions.
  • Business acumen to translate technical capabilities into business value.
  • Ability to manage complex, high-pressure situations and close multiple opportunities successfully.
Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to meet revenue targets.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within financial services (banks, insurers, lenders, Fintechs).
  • Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Pre-Sales, and Customer Success teams to achieve sales goals.
  • Understand customer pain points and articulate how the platform addresses these challenges.
  • Lead contract negotiations and deal structuring for high-value agreements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with enterprise clients.
Proposal & Bid Management
  • Coordinate with Pre-Sales and Product teams to create compelling proposals, including solutions, costs, scope, and timelines.
  • Respond to RFPs ensuring alignment with client needs and company capabilities.
  • Ensure timely and quality proposal delivery within budget.
Revenue Growth & Forecasting
  • Manage sales pipeline, forecasting, and revenue reporting.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize performance and identify growth opportunities.
