Job summary

A leading company in the mining sector is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to ensure the quality and safety of laboratory operations. The role involves overseeing testing procedures, managing quality control systems, and training staff. Ideal candidates will have a B. Tech in Analytical Chemistry and at least 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in Manganese analysis and ISO standards.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience in a laboratory supervisor role.
• Experience managing ISO 17025 requirements.
• Background in Manganese analysis is preferential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality assurance and quality control systems are in place.
• Oversee preparation and analysis of Manganese Ore samples.
• Carry out internal quality audits and ensure ISO standards are used.

Job description

Supports the safe and effective execution of the testing, and reporting of product quality in accordance with standard operating procedures and relevant regulations.Oversees, monitors the preparation and analysis of Manganese Ore samples using the Laboratory Information Management System.

· Ensure that quality assurance and quality control systems are in place.

· First line of maintenance of laboratory equipments.

· Ensuring efficiency and availability of equipments

· Ensures inspections are done and recorded and action or escalates any matters requiring attention.

· Ensuring the availability of procedures

· Training and development of employees

· Ensuring that safety protocols are in place, observed and followed in all laboratory activities

· Advise on quality matters and development

· Carry out internal quality audits

· Ensure that ISO standards are used in the laboratory

• B. Tech /National Diploma in analytical chemistry.
• B. Tech in Laboratory Management/ Certificate in Total Quality Management

Other requirements

· 5 years’ experience within a laboratory supervisor/office role

· Experience working with XRF/ED-XRF techniques is essential

· Background in Manganese analysis is preferential

· Experience in managing ISO 17025 requirements

· Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives

· Excellent organisation skills and written communication skills

· Strong Leadership and management ability

· Ability to work in a multinational/multicultural environment.
