About The Role

The Core Insurance Platform team in Santam Technology Services is looking for a Developer, based in Bellville.

Job Description

The incumbent will be responsible for development, testing, maintaining, and supporting software that meets business requirements on the Policy Administration System.

Principle Accountabilities
  • Adhere to defined software development lifecycles and best practices (including code standards, code reviews, source control, etc.)
  • Support end users encountering issues with the core Insurance platform (Policycenter/BillingCenter/ContactManager)
  • Maintain the health and functionality of the platform through proactive monitoring, diagnosing, and resolution of issues promptly
  • Configure and develop screens and applications to meet business requirements (UI, business logic, rules, process flow, etc.)
  • Create test data and unit tests to ensure software meets requirements, design, and specifications
  • Consider non-functional requirements during development (performance, load, response, etc.)
  • Support and maintain developed applications and services
  • Help maintain SLAs through quick incident resolution
Generic Functions
  • Collaborate across SDLC in an Agile/self-managed team environment
  • Identify risks/issues and contribute to risk planning
  • Support team members and project management as needed
Quality Assurance
  • Conduct unit and functional testing to ensure quality standards
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant IT qualification and/or experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ IT development experience across the SDLC
Solid Experience In
  • Java 8, J2EE
  • Object-oriented development

  • SQL familiarity
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of SOLID principles / Design Patterns
