Job description

DESCRIPTION:

Inspect work areas to ensure compliance with all relevant contract, National, and site HSE Regulations. Monitor work activities, record relevant information, audit subcontractor compliance to HSE plans and applicable legislative requirements, and report to relevant stakeholders such as the Project Team, GW Africa, and the Client.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Discharge duties as the CR8(5) on the Wind Farm.
  • Implement and manage Health and Safety systems and plans; ensure legal compliance with OHS Act, MHS Act, ISO standards, customer requirements, and other applicable legislation.
  • Conduct all internal H&S induction training for employees and contractors, including induction, HIRA, PPE use, and safe behavior awareness.
  • Assist in compiling risk assessments (baseline, issue, and continuous).
  • Ensure daily risk assessments are completed, assessed, and distributed correctly.
  • Manage safety performance of subcontractors; ensure no subcontractor works on site without a safety file.
  • Compile and update the health and safety file.
  • Ensure all employees and visitors are inducted before entering or working on site.
  • Ensure appointments are made per the site SHE organogram, with responsibilities communicated to the appointee.
  • Prepare the site emergency evacuation plan and distribute copies to supervisors and contractors.
  • Assist and support the environmental officer when not on site.
  • Ensure all applicable inspections are conducted weekly and monthly.
  • Revise the HSE Plan as needed.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and reporting.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP:
  • The HSE Officer functions as part of the Project Site Team.
  • Liaise with Goldwind HO, contractors, external suppliers, and client representatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma or certificate in HSE.
  • SACPMP Registration.
BASIC SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with strong stress management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with error detection and correction skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Industry-specific experience.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • English speaking.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of construction activities related to wind farms, substations, and transmission lines.
  • Understanding of the OHS Act, Construction regulations, OHSAS 45001, and ISO 14001.
  • First aid Level 3 certification.
  • Understanding of applicable legislation.
