Job description

Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that all products and materials supplied to the company meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. The SQE works closely with suppliers to evaluate their processes, drive continuous improvement, and resolve quality issues, ensuring a consistent supply of conforming materials. The SQE also works with supply chain and operations to support manufacturing partners.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in supplier selection and evaluation by performing on‑site assessments of potential suppliers.
  • Perform detailed audits of existing and new suppliers, ensuring compliance with performance and regulatory requirements and applicable standards (ISO 9001, etc.).
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships with the Supply Chain team.
  • Establish and implement supplier performance metrics, including inspection/validation plans.
  • Monitor trends in supplier performance and initiate projects to improve quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Drive supplier continuous improvement through the use of quality tools (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Identify and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities related to supplier quality issues to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, audits, and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct regular supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality management systems (QMS); track and report audit findings and work with suppliers to close gaps.
Qualifications
  • 2‑3 years of hardware or materials quality experience.
  • BS degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, Six Sigma, and Kanban systems.
  • Technical writing skills that include quality procedures and test plans.
  • Experience with data analysis techniques.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel to supplier sites (up to 10 % travel, as required).
Salary

The salary range for this role is expected to be between $77,821 – $91,555. Actual base pay may vary based on experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location, certifications, licenses, business needs, and the applicant’s skill set. The base pay is one component of the total compensation package for employees; other components may include a comprehensive benefits package.
