Overview

Job Description Summary

The Sr Staff Risk Advisor will identify key risks based on emerging technology (e.g., AI, Quantum Computing) and conduct thorough research and analysis to provide actionable recommendations to the leadership team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with internal stakeholders, external partners and customers in an advisory role. This role involves ensuring the safety, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness of our technological initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the strategic roadmap for cybersecurity initiatives, promote standardized security tools, processes and platforms to maintain consistency across all regions.
  • Provide regular program updates to the CISO, CIO and other stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders including CIOs and global IT security and compliance leaders.
  • Work with legal counsel, HR, physical security and product engineering on IT security solutions.
  • Aid in the enforcement of GE-wide policies and standards and assist technology teams with building security solutions.
  • Maintain documentation of the IT Risk program and any exceptions for regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and assess emerging technology risks, particularly in cloud environments.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to understand potential impacts and mitigation strategies.
  • Align with existing risk management frameworks and policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on risk management practices.
  • Provide expert recommendations to the leadership team on risk response actions.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in technology, cybersecurity, and risk management.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance the organization's risk management capabilities.
  • Partner with training and awareness programs on emerging technology risks and cybersecurity best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience OR an associate degree with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience.
  • 5 years of experience in cloud software development.
  • 2 years of experience with cybersecurity risk analysis.
  • Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience.

  • Experience with emerging technology (e.g., AI, Quantum Computing).
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time in the region as needed.
  • Prior experience working in a matrix environment.
  • Prior experience in Lean or Six Sigma Process improvement work.
  • Prior experience developing and leading strategy definition.
  • Capable contemporary leader with extensive team working abilities.
  • CISSP/CISM/CISA certification encouraged.
  • Experience in identification and remediation of security threats and risks.
  • Experience in security risk assessment of server, endpoint, network, cloud and mobile OS platforms.
  • Familiar with enterprise infrastructure designs and concepts including authentication, logging, interconnectivity, internet and application proxy, cloud computing, hosting, application code security, virtualization, database administration, data storage, data backup, encryption, middleware, firewall policy, network segmentation, mainframe, etc.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to connect the dots across various risk factors.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong interest in researching current events, trends and developments.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and frameworks.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with risk assessment tools and methodologies.
