About the role:

As a Senior Underwriter at CBRE, you will work with the underwriting team to perform all due diligence vital to make informed recommendations to CBRE's loan committee regarding the risks and mitigates for securing multifamily bridge loans and permanent agency multifamily loans.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the sizing/underwriting/presentation of CBRE’s multifamily bridge loan program through interaction with Producers, Borrowers, Legal, Investors and CBRE’s internal loan committee.
  • Prepare underwriting submissions ensuring internal credit quality and investor compliance.
  • Prepare borrower credit analysis including determination of net worth, liquidity, overall financial strength, experience owning multifamily assets and acceptability of proposed borrower structure.
  • Evaluate the risk involved with issuing short-term loans for multifamily properties.
  • Assess the property's worth, including its current market value and potential After Repair Value (ARV).
  • Examine the property's ability to generate sufficient income to cover loan payments and other expenses, often through discounted cash flow (DCF) modeling.
  • Act as primary liaison between loan producer, investor, legal counsel, and closing officer throughout the underwriting process.
  • Perform property and market level due diligence, review third party reports and legal documents to ensure compliance with internal credit tolerances as well as investor requirements.
  • Present loan transaction details to CBRE's loan committee for approval.
  • Active participant in developing analysts and other underwriters on our team.
  • Ensure all required documentation is in order and the loan complies with the applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Other related tasks include processing incoming exhibits and preparing final delivery of investor packages.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Explain complex information to others in straightforward situations.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate complicated figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Senior Underwriter position is $120,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $140,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
