Overview
Senior Project Manager - Public Works at Huitt-Zollars, Inc. Full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer (Eng IV) with five+ years of experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer for our Houston West office. This role will work in our Public Work Practice Area and provide leadership, guide business development and project management on local Houston (and beyond as needed) engineering projects.

Duties
- Serve as Civil Engineer in the development of design schematics, construction plans, specifications and estimates
- Coordinate with EITs, designers and drafters
- Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate the construction administration
- Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects
- Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules
- Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting materials
- Work on all types of projects with a focus on site development from concept design through construction documents
- Site development includes grading, floodplain mitigation, drainage, drainage detention, paving, and utilities; coordinate with internal disciplines and sub-consultants
- Coordinate with engineers-in-training, CADD technicians, and project support staff to prepare project documents for permitting and bidding
- Provide construction administration support, including submittal reviews, RFIs, contractor invoices, and progress meetings
- Support development of scopes of work, labor hour estimates, and project scheduling; may communicate directly with clients
Key Responsibilities
- Undertakes Project Manager responsibilities for major projects ($2.0+ million annual billing)
- Prepare and follow project planning frameworks; ensure proper staff assignment
- Review project reports and metrics to track progress and budget; lead projects to successful delivery
- Contribute to successful delivery and performance of projects
- Cultivate strong client relationships
- Follow Huitt-Zollars' business processes and weekly rhythm
- Support pursuit of new business and opportunities; assist or lead in proposals and win strategy
- Adhere to HZ QMS and Quality initiatives; ensure quality control on projects and operations
- Engage in training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff
- Maintain current duties, knowledge and technical skills

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
- Registered Professional Engineer
- 5+ years of civil engineering design experience in Public Works
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel and Word
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with limited supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to present in meetings
- Ability to design printed and digital engineering documents
- Ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas

Physical Requirements
