Job Description

As a Senior Power Systems Consultant on the Power Technologies International (PTI) team, you will plan and integrate renewables, storage, and FACTS into the electrical grid, perform large‑scale simulations, and develop solutions for clients such as power producers and ISOs.

This remote position is based in the contiguous U.S.

Responsibilities
  • Perform transmission planning using power systems planning principles to simulate and analyze the power system steady state and dynamic behavior.
  • Prepare detailed written reports describing analyses performed, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Work in small project teams, ensuring deliverables are high quality and projects complete within budget and schedule.
  • Develop automation scripts to improve the speed and accuracy of simulations and analysis.
  • Support proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Deliver on‑site technical consulting/training services.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering specializing in Power and Energy Systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the electric power industry (consulting firm, utility, ISO, etc.).
  • Knowledge of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability using PSS®E, TARA, or TSAT.
  • Ability to travel 10% domestically.
Preferred qualifications
  • Prior experience in Power System Consulting.
  • Experience in MISO or SPP footprints.
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems.
