Qualifications

Job Summary/Purpose

The RN Navigator / Oncology Accreditation Coordinator provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Oncology Clinic and Infusion departments while serving as the program coordinator for the Cancer Committee (CoC) and Palliative Care Program. This role ensures compliance with Joint Commission, Commission on Cancer (CoC), CMS, and state regulations. As a professional nurse, the RN assumes accountability and responsibility for patient‑centered care, including assessment, development of individualized plans of care, implementation of interventions, and evaluation of outcomes. In addition, the coordinator leads program development, accreditation readiness, data management, and quality initiatives that support oncology and palliative care services.

  • Provide direct nursing support to Oncology Clinic and Infusion Center patients, ensuring safe, evidence‑based care.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, symptom management, and supportive care.
  • Serve as a patient navigator by assisting patients and families in accessing resources, scheduling care, accompanying patients to appointments when needed, and helping overcome barriers to treatment and follow‑up.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, palliative care providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
  • Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating care as appropriate.
  • Serve as the Cancer Committee (CoC) Coordinator, ensuring compliance with CoC accreditation standards, data collection, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate the Palliative Care Program, including policy development, program evaluation, and quality metrics.
  • Collect, analyze, and report oncology program quality indicators, patient outcomes, and accreditation data.
  • Support program readiness for Joint Commission and CoC site visits, including documentation, evidence of compliance, and survey preparation.
  • Organize and facilitate Cancer Committee and Palliative Care Program meetings, maintaining accurate minutes and follow‑up actions.
  • Assist with community outreach, education, and prevention programs in alignment with accreditation requirements.

Role Minimum Qualifications

Required Education

Associate’s degree in nursing

Required Licensure and Certifications – At Hire

Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kentucky

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of two (2) years infusion/chemotherapy experience
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
