Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily support operations of Surgical Services with the assistance of various data systems.
  • Manage surgical equipment and instrumentation, including maintenance contracts, coordinating training on new equipment.
  • Conduct case cost analysis and independent analyses; assist the Administrative Director of Surgical Services, Surgical Services Leadership and Perioperative Leadership with requested reports.
  • Identify and manage cost savings opportunities.
  • Manage the Surgical Services Resource Coordinator and coordinate with the Supply Chain Director on initiatives and projects.
  • Work with the OR Manager and SPD Manager regarding equipment operations; oversee the OR Schedulers and support OR block scheduling and resource utilization.
  • Provide data to improve OR operations and support Specialty Experts in data-driven decisions.
  • Maintain Surgical Services computer systems within the Meditech system and OR equipment; troubleshoot equipment/software as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical modules and nursing staff, providing training and orientation to new and existing staff.
  • Develop and maintain processes to ensure accurate scheduling, billing, and inventory systems.
  • Maintain surgical implant processes and databases in compliance with regulatory bodies; coordinate installation, education, and support of information systems in Perioperative Services.
  • Interface with Division and Corporate regarding system use for Surgical Services; develop and maintain written protocols for system use.
  • Coordinate with SPD leadership to monitor and maintain instrument set tracking; collaborate with posting schedulers to ensure accuracy of posting information and anticipation of specialty equipment needs.
  • Coordinate contracted services (e.g., cell saver) as needed for specific cases.
  • Negotiate with Vendors in coordination with the Surgical Services Resource Coordinator and Supply Chain Director, involving the Administrative Director for best terms.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Director, Surgical Services Resource Coordinator, and Administrative Director to implement, monitor, and renew OR contracts.
  • Review upcoming surgery schedules to ensure all outside implant, instrument, and equipment needs are available as requested, with Surgical Services Leadership.
  • Analyze data from OR Metrics, including OR dashboard, Power BI Core Measures, and Patient/Physician/Staff Satisfaction, and present findings at meetings with Surgical Services Leadership.
  • Perform special projects to meet service excellence as requested by the Administrative Director.
  • Prepare statistics, audits of regulatory compliance, scheduling, and other systems; make recommendations based on data analyzed.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor of Nursing required; Masters preferred (MSN or MHA).
  • Certification in a related specialty required (CNOR or CSSM).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Operating Room.
  • Ability to maintain a mature, professional manner and demonstrate sound judgment when dealing with vendor representatives, OR staff, physicians, and hospital staff.
  • Computer skills to include MS Office; Performance Improvement experience preferred.
