Overview

Join Baylor Heart & Vascular Hospital (BHVH) Dallas as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Universal (CUB) Unit and be part of something better!

10,000 Sign-On Bonus and Relocation Assistance available for eligible candidates. External candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of RN experience to qualify for the Sign-On Bonus. Relocation assistance is available for candidates moving 50+ miles from their current residence.

Patient Population: Post Cardiology Interventional, Post Vascular Surgical/Interventional, Advanced heart Failure. True Cardiac ICU-CRRT, Impella, Swan, AIBP, etc. This unit operates as a Cardiac Universal Bed (CUB) and includes Cardiac ICU and Cardiac Telemetry patients; all nurses on the unit must be comfortable caring for both.

Required Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of 1-year recent, full-time ICU, PCU, or Telemetry RN experience. Cardiac ICU and/or Cardiovascular ICU/CVICU experience preferred.

Shift: FT/Nights | 7p-7a | Three 12-hour shifts per week, rotating weekends

Patient Ratios: 1:2 ICU and 1:4 Telemetry

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, you will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment.
What Will Make You Successful in the Role
  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understand hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications
  • Grad of an Accredited Program
  • Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • Candidates must have minimum of 1-year recent, full-time ICU, PCU, or Telemetry RN experience. Cardiac ICU and/or Cardiovascular ICU/CVICU specific RN experience preferred.
