Job description

Home / Production Supervisor Electronics (2:00pm to 10:30pm)

Reporting to the Production Manager / Director of Operations, this role is responsible for supervising the day-to-day manufacturing operations and performance of employees for a designated value stream focused on the assembly of highly customized control cabinets for electrical switchgear systems. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions.

As a Production Supervisor, You Will:
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas—seeking to meet and improve schedule dates, reduce process times, reduce inventory levels, increase the utilization of resources, and manage department priorities.
  • Supervise the daily operations of a team of electronics assemblers and technicians responsible for building complex, customized electrical control panels.
  • Control manpower and materials to ensure accurate, timely job completion while maintaining quality standards and safety compliance.
  • Guide and monitor the team to meet performance goals, including authority to shift work roles and distribution as necessary.
  • Interpret and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials (BOMs) to ensure correct assembly practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by researching and implementing new processes, equipment, and lean strategies to improve quality and throughput.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies; partner with Operational Excellence to implement changes and develop a lean culture.
  • Supervise and coach team members to support career growth and develop advanced electrical assembly capabilities.
  • Track absenteeism and maintain and approve timekeeping records.
  • Ensure effective employee relations through mentoring, issue resolution, coaching, and training.
  • Provide meaningful input in employee performance evaluations, hiring decisions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Lead and coordinate employee training to enhance work skills, quality, and throughput while reducing scrap/rework.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring adherence to safety protocols, conducting accident investigations, and participating in hazard assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager to maintain inventory levels and coordinate part availability.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental efforts with Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Supply Chain to ensure a smooth production flow and resolve material or design issues.
  • Monitor production schedules, report delays or issues, and manage departmental performance metrics.
  • Support new product development (NPD) introductions by troubleshooting processes, reviewing work instructions, and training team members.
As a Supervisor and Leader, You Are:

Responsible for the daily performance of a team (~6+ employees) in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. You guide your team toward goals, manage productivity, resolve problems, and have authority to adjust roles and assignments. You participate in hiring decisions, performance appraisals, and other HR-related matters.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:
  • Has 5–7 years’ progressive experience in an electronics or electrical manufacturing environment.
  • Has a minimum of 3 years of experience supervising a skilled manufacturing workforce.
  • Holds a High School diploma or GED; a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Has a strong grasp of custom electrical assembly, panel wiring, and reading electrical schematics.
  • Possesses intermediate computer skills including MS Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Has excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership in Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or other continuous improvement models; has actively led or participated in improvement projects.
The Physical Demands of the Job Are:
  • General office and production floor environment, with computer use.
  • Light lifting (occasionally up to 25 lbs).
  • Stooping and standing as required during floor supervision.
