As a Payroll Specialist, you will process company payrolls, maintain payroll and HR records, and provide HR reporting and administrative support. This position is hybrid, requiring three days in the office and two days remote.
Base Pay Range
$29.00/hr – $35.00/hr
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure the bi‑weekly payroll is prepared, processed, and delivered accurately and on time, in compliance with company policy and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Update and maintain electronic timekeeper files, audit balances, and transmit employee data to the payroll system for processing.
- Maintain accurate payroll and HR database and records; enter all changes with proper approvals, verify inconsistencies, and resolve issues by researching problems and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks and payroll issues.
- Create, maintain, and communicate standard procedures; provide guidance and training to ensure stakeholders understand payroll processes.
Position Requirements
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) from a two‑year college or technical school (training in accounting preferable); at least two years of payroll processing system experience, plus HR experience helpful, or equivalent education and experience.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of full‑cycle multi‑state payroll processes and best practices.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, functions, formatting, charts, and data analysis.
- Proficiency with the ADP payroll processing system.
- Basic accounting knowledge related to payroll processing and general ledger integration.
- Strong problem‑solving skills: listening, interpreting, and meeting others’ needs; diagnosing and rectifying problems.
- Ability to create and follow standardized procedures.
- Attention to detail and ability to recognize inconsistencies.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
