Overview

OR Circulating Registered Nurse RN - full time days $20K Sign on Bonus at Kindred (ScionHealth). The role involves providing quality patient care to critically ill patients, using the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation, and serving as a patient advocate while supervising care provided by other caregivers.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the standard of nursing care and implement hospital and nursing department policies and procedures.
  • Assess the patient on admission within the required time frame and refer to other disciplines as needed (e.g., rehabilitation, nutrition services).
  • Develop and update the nursing care plan on admission with patient, family, and interdisciplinary team coordination.
  • Handle restraints safely and ensure proper patient positioning and alignment.
  • Document admission assessments, reassessments, care plans, and other pertinent information in the electronic medical record.
  • Demonstrate correct use of biomedical equipment (defibrillator, suction, IV and feeding pumps, PCA, glucometer) and deliver safe, timely care with teamwork and initiative.
  • Obtain consents for procedures and transfusions; ensure patient has information to make informed decisions.
  • Receive physician orders, ensure accurate transcription and order entry, and follow through to ensure orders are carried out.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition (e.g., cardiac rhythm changes, respiratory distress, GI bleed, pulmonary embolism/edema, DKA, adverse drug reactions); institute emergency actions and notify the physician as needed.
  • Complete and document admission assessments and required reassessments per policy; communicate observations to physicians, supervisors, or charge nurses as appropriate.
  • Administer medications with knowledge of action, side effects, dosages, and routes per ICU policies and procedures; adhere to the seven rights of medication administration.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and tests (e.g., thoracentesis, paracentesis, arterial line, bronchoscopy) as needed.
  • Promote economical use of supplies and maintain equipment in a clean, safe condition.
  • Participate in orientation of new personnel and performance evaluations of nursing staff; assist team members in patient care as needed.
  • Coordinate nursing care for patients scheduled for therapy or procedures with other departments; institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments when necessary.

Salary Range: $64.55 - $77.18 per hour
