Job description
Summary

Will work with the cardiologist and may document verbal or telephone orders, as well as progress notes in the EMR. Perform nursing assessments on new admissions, consult and make rounds on established patients. Responsible for nursing intervention, performing nursing procedures and providing patient education congruent with the medical plan of care. This position requires a thorough knowledge of cardiovascular disease processes to include, but not limited to EKG interpretation and its correlation with the disease process, appropriate use and dosage of cardiac medications, anatomy and physiology characteristics of the cardiac patient, and understanding of lab values as they relate to the cardiac process. In addition, this position requires interpersonal skills to relate to the physician, patient, family members, ancillary personnel, and hospital personnel in a professional and appropriate manner.

  • Utilize knowledge of cardiovascular disease processes, including EKG interpretation and its correlation with disease processes, to inform patient care.
  • Understand and apply appropriate use and dosage of cardiac medications, anatomy and physiology of the cardiac patient, and interpretation of relevant lab values.
  • Maintain professional communication with physicians, patients, families, and hospital staff.
Qualifications
  • Required Experience: Minimum two (2) years hospital or clinic-based cardiology experience
  • Required Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Missouri Registered Professional Nurse; current Missouri Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Status; BLS; ACLS
  • Preferred Experience: Experience working with a cardiologist in a hospital-based and office-based environment
