The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Rutgers, invites applications for part‑time instructors (Lecturers) for Spring 2026 to teach undergraduate courses in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources on the Cook/Douglass campus. Lecturers will meet with the class weekly to provide lectures and/or hands‑on lab instruction, prepare, proctor, and grade homework, labs, quizzes and exams, and provide a final course grade. Lecturers will also post material to the class Canvas website, respond to student email correspondence, and hold weekly office hours for one‑on‑one or small‑group mentoring.
Minimum Education and Experience
Hold a Master’s or PhD in a relevant discipline (biology, ecology, botany, zoology, natural resources, or related fields). Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated teaching experience and effectiveness.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be proficient in Canvas.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with course management systems and undergraduate teaching in the life sciences.
In‑person instruction on the Cook Campus, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Students will be in a classroom or lab setting.
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions.
The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources specializes in ecology, evolution, and natural resource conservation. We study the evolutionary origins and maintenance of biodiversity, conserving and restoring native ecosystems, and issues of global change such as managing natural resources within urban ecosystems.
