College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) offers degrees in Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Historic Preservation, Urban Design, and a PhD in Geography, Planning, and Design. For more information visit the CAP site.

This posting establishes a pool of candidates to fill temporary, non-tenure-track lecturer positions in Architecture. This posting does not necessarily reflect a current, open position. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made semester-by-semester as teaching needs arise. The pool is anticipated to remain active through August 2026; applications may apply to future pools after that date.

Responsibilities

The Department of Architecture in the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado Denver seeks a pool of Lecturers from which future appointments will be made. Lecturers selected from this pool will teach six-credit-hour design studios in undergraduate and/or graduate programs. Teaching modes may include in-person, hybrid, online, or remote formats. Lecturers must have expertise and experience in architectural design, including knowledge of different design paradigms, design skills, and approaches to project design. They should be able to develop and manage student projects through constructive criticism and use of technologies from technical drafting to advanced digital design tools and visualization software. If applying to a non-studio course, applicants must demonstrate expertise in the area of focus. If interested in teaching a three-credit-hour course, highlight this in the cover letter.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to applicants with a professional degree in architecture or a terminal degree in a related field.
  • Additional preference given to applicants with prior teaching experience, professional registration, or a record of professional practice in architecture.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is:

  • $5,730 for a 3-credit hour course
  • $8,488 for a 6-credit hour course

The finalist's salary will be determined based on factors such as internal equity, experience, education, and field of expertise. This range reflects the University's good-faith estimate at posting. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.
