The community you'll be caring for: AdventHealth Tampa

  • AdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women's services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. GME programs on the hospital campus currently include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year.

The role you'll contribute:

As an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with AHT you will provide services while delivering the whole care experience in a faith-based atmosphere. You will be making rounds on the units, provide telephone consultations, offer private consultations, teach breastfeeding classes as needed, provide outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Assessment, intervention, evaluation of the breastfeeding dyad.
  • Provide evidence-based education to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Participates in administering the hospital-based breast pump rental program.
  • Rounds on patients in the nursing units daily.
  • Provides accurate and consistent information to clients and patients regarding breastfeeding as well as practice according to AHT policies & procedures.
  • Works well with hospital staff and providers.
  • Keeps supplies clean and orderly according to policy.
  • Participates in opportunities to educate the community regarding breastfeeding by supporting community events and serving on AHT committees as requested.
  • Maintains satisfactory participation and attendance at required and non-required meetings and staff development programs.
  • Promote evidence of adherence to the hospital confidentiality policy.
  • Monitors use of supplies and good stewards of our supplies/equipment.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

  • 6-month Lactation Consultant experience Required.
  • IBCLC - International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Required.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Required.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Required.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Required.
