A global engineering firm in Miami is seeking an HV Underground Transmission Engineer to lead projects in cable design and engineering. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, at least 8 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in cable design software. Candidates must have a strong knowledge of industry standards and be willing to travel. This position offers a hybrid working model, allowing flexibility between office and remote work.
The energy industry, particularly transmission grids, is undergoing major changes to accommodate regional and global demand growth, decarbonization and energy transition targets. Underground and subsea cable technology is increasingly becoming a major player in this energy paradigm shift to enable large-scale and long-distance power transmission.
As an HV Underground Transmission Engineer, you will work closely with regional and global transmission and cable experts within Jacobs to support and/or lead ongoing projects as well as business development and proposal support with a variety of clients including renewable developers, transmission owner/developers as well as utilities.
The successful candidate shall demonstrate related experience and technical knowledge in the field of underground transmission, cable engineering design and installation, with emphasis on high voltage applications (69kV and above), through experience with consulting engineering firms, developers and/or direct exposure to OEMs. Knowledge of electrical design/studies, functional/technical specifications, and/or FAT/SAT commissioning related to cable systems is preferred.
