The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Food Production Manager to join our busy team and lead our production operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee all aspects of our food production facility, ensuring we meet deadlines while maintaining strict HACCP compliance and the highest standards of food safety.
We operate in a fast-paced working environment, and workloads will vary from day to day, so planning is key.
You will be leading a team which currenly has 9 members.
You will be working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
The rate of pay is from £15 an hour depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management:
- Oversee daily food production operations, ensuring efficiency and quality
- Plan and manage production schedules in liaison with all departments
- Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed to meet customer demands
- Ensure all orders are completed on time, to budget, and meet quality standards
- Calculate workloads and work from guidelines provided by the operations manager
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure full compliance with HACCP standards and complete all required paperwork
- Maintain health and safety guidelines in line with Food Standards Agency requirements
- Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, fire, licensing and employment regulations
- Keep all departments clean and compliant with HACCP standards
- Report and address any maintenance issues to maintain compliance
- Supervise, motivate and develop a team of production workers
- Review worker performance and identify training needs
- Be fully hands-on, supporting any department when required
- Work with Directors/Operations Manager to implement company policies and goals
Inventory & Stock Management:
- Order goods and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained
- Complete monthly stock takes and maintain accurate inventory records
- Ensure proper stock rotation following FIFO (First In, First Out) principles
Logistics & Maintenance:
- Organise the distribution of orders for wholesale and retail customers
- Ensure delivery obligations are met
- Organise vehicle maintenance, insurance claims and breakdown recovery
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair of damaged equipment
Customer Service:
- Work with the Sales Manager to provide excellent service to wholesalers
- Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and quality delivery
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Previous management or supervisory experience in a food production environment
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
- Experience with production planning and scheduling
