Position Overview

A highly skilled UPS Field Engineer is needed to apply an in-depth knowledge of UPS start‑up, testing, and operations. This role involves commissioning, maintenance, and emergency support for power electronics at customer sites, primarily in the Northeast/New England region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts commissioning-focused design reviews, prepares test procedures and reports, and oversees on-site testing.
  • Performs preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start‑up, and field modifications.
  • Coordinates with technical support to resolve maintenance or operational issues.
  • Assists in developing Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
  • Reports to a supervisor for any unusual issues or developments.
  • Trains periodically at company headquarters on testing equipment and rebuilding systems.
  • Completes Field Service Reports promptly and provides proactive recommendations to clients.

Position will be based remotely from home.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3‑5 years' experience; preferred 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDUs, STSs, etc.
  • Proficient with hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and initiative.
  • Knowledge of equipment manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Physically capable of bending and lifting up to 100 lbs as required.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and be on‑call when needed.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Prior experience with third‑party UPS service providers is a plus.
  • OEM factory training or experience with brands such as Emerson/Liebert/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware/PDI is required.
  • A technical degree (e.g., DeVry, Lincoln Tech) is a plus.
  • Military veterans with experience in Electrical/Mechanical systems are highly valued (Navy EMN, ETN, MMNs, Army Power Generation, Air Force Power Production, Coast Guard, etc.).
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Occasional national travel may be required for emergencies.
Location Preference

Candidate is preferred to live in Northeast/New England area – ideally Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or New Hampshire.
