Overview

ESTIMATOR (FEDERAL CONSTRUCTION) | GANA-A'YOO, LIMITED

Type of Position: Full-Time, Regular
Tier: I
Location: National Capital Region
Schedule: TBD
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports to: General Manager

What You'll Be Doing
  • Participate in scoping sessions with the client and produce detailed estimates and technical narratives to present and negotiate with the client. Work to achieve mutual acceptability to obtain a contract.
  • Be flexible in various estimating templates as needed by the client, ranging from MS Excel spreadsheets to packaged software (e4Clicks/RS Means).
  • Produce subcontractor bid packages, select subcontractors and suppliers based on best value, administer and oversee subcontractor activities. Coordinate with field personnel to ensure expectations are met.
  • Review subcontractor material, approved submittals and shop drawings and check construction for compliance.
  • Coordinate with clients (primarily Federal Government) to ensure successful completion of projects and client satisfaction.
  • Exercise good judgment in utilizing the necessary authority to properly manage and execute construction contracts.
  • Assure red line (as-builts) drawings are kept up to date in the field.
  • Participate in the company safety program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction or Building Science preferred, but extensive experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • 10 years of combined experience in engineering, construction, or similar field with emphasis in project management and estimating for maintenance, repair, and minor construction projects.
  • Design/Build experience is a plus
  • Experience on Federal projects required.
  • Must have experience working with estimating, cost control and scheduling.
  • Experience and training must include understanding of construction methods, techniques, equipment and hands-on experience in a supervisory position.
  • 4clicks / RS Means estimating software experience
  • Working knowledge of field construction including systems, practices, general engineering principles and construction techniques, materials, methods and sequencing.
  • Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.
  • Strong work ethic with a passion to fulfill commitments.
