Overview

Electrical Engineering Specialist (Substation) –IND, Regular employment. Job location: United States - Nationwide. Responsible for creating moderate to highly complex designs of electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and related electrical systems. Collaborates with sales staff on proposals responsive to client requests and reviews client needs to ensure alignment with requirements.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and 7 years of related experience (equivalent experience considered). Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Create moderate to highly complex electrical designs and related system plans and models, and refine rough sketches with prescribed methods and standard techniques.
  • Incorporate changes to designs or sketches and redline or mark up ongoing projects.
  • Contribute to studies of power systems and electrical calculations, lighting simulations and layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations.
  • Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications and update design requirements as necessary.
  • Develop technical design documentation and white papers for new or special-case designs, contributing to the firm’s technical knowledge base (TKM).
  • Collaborate with sales to create proposals and ensure adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices.
  • Engage with current and potential clients to review current and future design needs; attend conferences and collaborate with sales staff to improve visibility of products and services.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and mentor their growth within the discipline and firm.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; 7 years of related experience; equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a college degree; travel as required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience leading substation projects through 345kV; proficiency in protective relay schemes and relay schematics/wiring diagrams; expertise in specifying and selecting electrical equipment including SCADA/RTU hardware; familiarity with NESC and NEC standards; knowledge of substation grounding grid design and lightning protection systems.
