Job description
Overview

Electrical Engineering Leader for CDM Smith, IND business unit. Lead and guide the electrical engineering group and industrial engineering team to deliver industrial design projects for chemical, power, utilities, and manufacturing industries. Design and retrofit industrial power distribution systems and substations. Strong leadership and ability to drive innovation in electrical engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Manage and supervise an industrial engineering team, providing technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Technical Oversight: Independently oversee and provide expert guidance on complex electrical system designs to meet client project requirements.
  • Compliance Review: Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and sign off on completed designs.
  • Policy Adherence: Ensure all designs follow firm policies, quality, and practices.
  • Site Reviews: Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications, updating design requirements as necessary.
  • Knowledge Contribution: Develop white papers and technical design documentation for new or special case designs, and submit technical papers for publication in journals.
  • Proposal Collaboration: Work with sales staff to create proposals in response to RFPs, ensuring adherence to regulations and best practices.
  • Client Engagement: Meet with current and potential clients to review their design needs and provide technical guidance.
  • Industry Visibility: Attend conferences and symposia to enhance the visibility of the firm's products and services.
  • Primary Contact: Act as the main point of contact for external clients and industry contacts, collaborating with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions.
  • Project Updates: Provide updates to project management as necessary.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior staff to develop their skills and prepare them for future growth within the firm.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • 15 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency depends on duties and project workload.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others and lead a team of industrial electrical engineers.
  • Understanding of FEL, FEED delivery process; experience with progressive design build and design build delivery methods.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to obtain licensing in multiple states; ability to provide detailed engineering estimates; ability to maintain project budget and schedule.
