Job Description

CDM Smith is looking for an Electrical Engineer 1 to join our team in 2026! You'll be working with a dynamic team of industry leading engineers on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects. Under direct supervision, create basic designs of electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems. Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations of basic complexity to meet client project requirements. Assist with the selection and specification of electrical components including: motor control centers, switchgears, transformers, etc. Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Update design requirements as necessary. Contribute to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Perform other duties as required. May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
